Shenanigans

Utah to Idaho to Utah

While my parents were visiting for Jax's birthday my Mom said she would take the kids to see the fish at the aquarium. Every day for about a month Jax would ask if today we were going to see the fish. When we finally got the chance after his appointment at Primary Children's. He was so excited and had so much fun. Ryker is an animal lover so he also thought it was pretty great. My mom, Lindsey and cousin Berkley also got to come hang out. That night we also got to go to a Jazz game with my dad, Eric, and Brett. It was pretty fun even though they lost in the last seconds of overtime. The boys and I went and spent a few days in Idaho with my parents until we went back to Utah for the surgery. They are remodeling some things in their house so it was a little crazy but the boys always have a great time at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

A Tale of Two Surgeries

Both Ryker and Jax had to have surgery over the last couple of months. Ryker had a blocked tear duct since he was born and his eye would get pretty goopy and sore. When he turned one our pediatrician said lets do the surgery so we headed down to Primary Children's in Utah. We had a day to play after our intake visit so we went to play at the Discovery Center in Salt Lake. The boys had a great time. That night we met Eric, Brett, Lindsey, and my cousin Ashley at Olive Garden for some yummy dinner. The next morning I fed Ryker a bite of muffin before I remembered he wasn't supposed to eat anything. Oops! The staff at Primary Children's were so great working us in later into the schedule so we didn't have to make another trip. Surgery is no fun and a little scary but I don't think there is anything cuter that little guys in hospital gowns. As we were in post op care they told us that as soon as he could hold some water down we could head back to the hotel. They also told us that nausea as a side effect was not very common in someone so young so we gave him a chocolate pudding. He threw it all up in his car seat on the way back to the hotel and continued throwing up for the next few days. The surgery was a success and his eye has been perfect ever since.

Jax has had an umbilical hernia since he was born. The doctors said that it should heal on its own but it hadn't got any smaller so we decided to see if they would do the surgery sooner than later. We took another trip down to Primary Children's to visit with the doctor who said he recommended doing the surgery but we had to wait a week before we could get on the schedule so the boys and I went and spent the week with my parents and Luke met us back in Utah (see next post). Jax was the first surgery of the day so we were all looking like zombies. Jax was having a great time playing doctor and driving the car around and went back to surgery with the anesthesiologist like a champ. After surgery he was pretty groggy and slept for a long time. They wouldn't let us go home until he kept down some liquid but he was pretty reluctant to drink anything. The nurse brought some ice chips and that did the trick along with some PJ Masks on the tv and he was a pretty happy camper. We drove home that afternoon. Jax was moving like an old man for about a week and then was his active self again. Another successful surgery.

Spring Break in Wyoming

The weather this spring has been up and down. Temperatures in the 70's then snowing. Spring break doesn't really apply to us since none of us are in school but we got a crazy amount of snow that whole week. Luke even got a snow morning because the snow broke a power line. For some reason it was hard to remember how we spent our time inside all winter because we loved playing outside, going for walks, jumping on the trampoline, riding bikes. The boys and I were getting some serious cabin fever so I got everybody all dressed up (it took a half an hour) and we went outside to build a snowman family (Jax lasted 10 minutes before he got cold and wanted to go back inside). Then next day was our morning of sledding. It was so much fun and Jax talked about it for days and days. Too bad the snow melted before we could go again.

Free Ice Cream

We had to take advantage of free cone day at Dairy Queen. My boys love their ice cream. Luke was teaching Ryker the magic of eating french fries with ice cream. He was pretty into it. Jax kept saying "This ice cream is yummy!"

Easter 2016

Easter 2016. We had a little Easter egg hunt the Saturday before with some friends. Since the beginning of February our weather had been pretty great except for the day of the hunt. It was freezing and windy but our little guys look stinking cute all bundled up. It was also super close to nap time so Jax was not about to smile for any pictures. Jax had a great time running around with the big kids trying to fill his basket. Ryker found out there was candy in the first egg and was done.

After nap time we dyed some eggs. Jax wanted to dye them all green.
Our friends were blessing their baby, or so we thought. Turns out it was the next Sunday but we were up and ready and looking good so I made everyone take a family picture.

After church we went outside to do our egg hunt. Jax loved it. Now every time we go outside he looks around and says sadly "No more eggs."

Again Ryker got his one egg, got the chocolate out of it and went to town.

I had to save all the hard boiled eggs. When Jax discovered they didn't have any candy he tried to stomp on them.

Ryker's birth grandmother made these crochet bunnies for the boys last year. Ryker loved them. He was carrying them around all day. Jax thought peeps were pretty much the greatest. A boy after my own heart.

Luke dressed to impress as he made us our Easter breakfast of bunny shaped pancakes.
