Camping Part 2

Luke's friend Matt decided he needed to take his boys camping before they had to go back to school and invited us to come along. It was probably the coldest night all summer. It had rained earlier in the day so everything was wet and dark when we set up camp. We had a delicious dutch oven dinner then bundled up and went to bed. It was freezing! The next day was thankfully much warmer.

We went on a hike before we headed down the mountain. Here are the guys helping the boys find the perfect walking stick. It took longer than the hike :)
Baxter was not too sure he felt about camping since he had to stay on the leash but he was loving the hike. He thought we were walking too slow.

Family picture at the end of the hike. Sleeping in the cold was not so great but the rest was pretty fun!

Firsts

Jax is growing up so fast! At his four month check up we got the go ahead to start him on solid foods. He got so excited he kept trying to eat the bowl. Of course he ended up with most of it on his face but he was pretty dang cute!

Next he got his first haircut. He was born with a pretty good head of hair then managed to rub off all but a top mohawk so he looked like a baby Mr. T. People would always say "I love his haircut!" After many such responses I decided to give him an actual haircut. The camo for the pictures was purely coincidental.

 Such a handsome little man!

Camping

July was a busy month. We went camping with Jaxon for the first time. He did pretty well and we all survived. After we got there and set up the tent it was so hot so Luke and Jax went for a dip in the creek. Luke stuck Jax's feet in and he was not happy about it! It was freezing. I wasn't getting in for sure.
The reason we went camping is so we could go to "That Famous Preston Night Rodeo" which is one of my favorite family traditions. My Grandparents used to live in Preston and we would go every year and hang out with the the aunts and uncles and cousins. Jax also got to experience his first parade (us with the rodeo queens in the background).

First rodeo. He really did not like the 8 second buzzer or the crazy guy sitting next to us.
He had a good time hanging out with grandparents and aunt and uncles.

4th of July

We spent the 4th of July in Teton Village with my family. I totally made Luke and Jax wear matching shirts for our first Fourth of July together. Yep I am one of those people and I'm OK with that. We have crazy bad mosquitoes at our house so it was awesome to be outside and not get eaten alive! We hiked and biked and swam and played tennis. I love the outside :)

It was super windy and cold at the top of the mountain. Jax kept gasping from the wind blowing in his face and this was the one picture you could see my face.

We saw so many animals on our way into Teton Village. As soon as we turned off onto Moose Junction we saw a big bull moose! It was really dark so none of the pictures turned out. Next we saw a moose right on the side of the road(see grainy moose below). Finally as we were driving along a momma bear with two tiny cubs run across the road. So surprised! The cubs were seriously the size of Baxter. Luke jumped out to try and get a picture but there was a lot of brush and a momma bear so he didn't get too close.

Above is Jax's first bike ride. Such a cute boy! Below is a random pic from Jackson with Jax and Abe Lincoln. I just love the sneaky look on his face.

Homecoming

Welcome home Elder Maughan! My brother Brett returned home from his 2 year LDS mission in Armenia at the end of May. We were pretty excited to see him and I was pretty excited to show off Jaxon to his Uncle.

I was pretty sure that he grew a few inches taller while he was gone. How did he get so tall and I am so short?

Lindsey decided to match Char's and my outfits that weekend.

Nursery

The finished nursery. Luke helped me to make the cornice box.

The animal prints I found on Etsy. I made the "forest" with my Silhouette machine. The mobile idea I stole from Pinterest :) It might look a little too busy now with the mobile. We will see if I change anything. I'm just glad I got it done at all. Its hard work once the baby is already here.

I thought if I filled his room with fuzzy forest animals he might not grow up to be a hunter. A long shot growing up in Wyoming!

This is my first and probably last attempt at quilting. It turned out pretty great as long as you don't look too closely.

Temple Square

The Tulip Festival was going on at Thanksgiving Point while we were down in Utah. It was crazy busy and my dad didn't want to pay to get in so we ended up not going. On the way home to Wyoming Luke, Jax and I stopped at Temple Square to see the flowers. It was a beautiful day with tons of pretty flowers and best of all it was free!

Some nice family took a picture for us.

Poor Jax fell asleep as we were walking around. Love that squishy face :)
