Jax Baby

Words cannot express how much we love our Jaxon. He is so happy and loving. What he has been up to:
His top two molars are peeking through.
He loves to push power buttons, especially the computer one.
He is an amazing jumper. Sometimes he even gets both feet off the ground :)
He is a great whistler.
He is only snugly when he runs out of energy which is not often.
He gives great hugs complete with back pats.
He gives great open mouthed slobbery kisses.
He loves to read stories.
He is a great mimic, copying what we say and do.
He is great at making animal sounds. His specialties are the elephant, kitty, and wolf.
He is a great helper, especially with the laundry and mopping.
He loves to somersault, roll, and spin.
He has a great throwing arm.
He loves rocks and dirt, wrestling with Daddy, and playing hide-and-seek with Mommy.
He loves to talk on the phone but only to Daddy. He says "hello", "love you", "good-bye" like a champ.
We taught him how to high-five which he only does to people he knows well. He shakes hands with everyone else. They try to get him to high-five and he just sticks out his little hand. Makes me laugh.
He is a great climber. His newest conquest is the dining room table.

This list could go on forever. Jaxon is such a smart, curious little boy and I love watching him develop and explore the world. How lucky are we to have him in our lives!

Memorial Day Weekend

My family (minus Eric who had to work) came to visit us for Memorial Day weekend. We love it when we get visitors! Jax can't get enough snuggles loves and kisses from everybody. They came on Saturday to help us with some yard work. We divided and conquered. Luke and Brett were painting fences, Dad and I were fixing sprinklers, and Mom and Lindsey were planting flowers. The primary song that says "Dear Mother all flowers remind me of you" definitely applies to my mom. Probably not so much for Jax.
Sunday after church we drove up to Martin's Cove. We all piled into a borrowed mini van and started off. Living in Wyoming I feel very blessed being so close to all these reminders of all the pioneers sacrificed. It is very humbling.
I love this picture of Jax. Perfect picture that captures his vivacious, happy personality.

We walked the short hike out to Devil's Gate. We came upon a group of friendly horses. My dad had a bad experience falling off a horse and hasn't really liked them since so it was pretty funny that they were following him around where ever he went.

Devil's Gate

This was the friendliest horse that followed my dad the whole way. It was very mellow and even let Jax have his very first horse ride.

We had a great time. I am so grateful they drove the long way to visit us. After the family left on Monday, Luke and I got back to the yard work. We cut down three dead trees.

Painted the fence (until we ran out of paint). I ended up with quite a few more freckles than when I started.
The finished product of the flower planting. It looks much better. Now onto the next project of painting the house!

Busy Board

I saw this project on Pinterest called a busy board and I loved it. It is the perfect thing for an active little guy. Jax was loving helping Luke with the construction.
My handsome handy man. He is always a good sport helping me create all these projects I find to do.
The finished project. The one I saw was much cuter but I think ours turned out OK.
It doesn't keep his attention long (nothing does) but he has a good time playing with it.

National EMS Week

Our local EMS station had an open house for the community to come and see what they are all about. They had the life flight helicopter, a firetruck, and ambulance for us to tour. Jax had his first hot dog, which he thought was delicious. He loved seeing the helicopter taking off. It was his favorite part.
Playing on the firetruck. He was not sure how he felt about being left on the step but he thought it was interesting once both feet were on the ground.

He like the ambulance much better. I had just told him not to push the button and you can see his sneaky smile as he reaches out to push it anyways. Little stinker!

May So Far

It wouldn't be spring with out a snowstorm. The day after Mother's Day this is what we woke up to. I am wearing my new shoes that Jax got me. Jax is wiping my nose with a tissue.
Luke brought home a doughnut from work. Jax saw it and wanted it. I gave him a few bites then set it in a bowl on the table so hopefully he would forget about it. A little later I noticed that Jax was being unusually quiet, which usually means he is up to no good. I find him up on a chair with the doughnut in hand. He saw me coming and started shoving as much of it into his mouth as he could before I could take it away. Silly boy.
Luke loves his sambas. He wanted Jax to have some daddy son matching shoes and I thought these would be perfect. I got them for Jax's birthday and now they finally fit. My boys are so cute!

Idaho

After St. George Jax and I went to my parent's house for a week to spend some time with the grandparents and to go to the play Wicked. Jax loves all the animals. They have two cats and a big old golden retriever. Jax liked to use Izzy as a big pillow.
My mom loves gardening. Every spring she plants tons of flowers. It always looks beautiful but is so much work I have taken a more minimalistic approach to my yard. Jax was enjoying helping Grandma plant. When she was watering Jax would pluck petals and give them drinks in the hose.
We also helped my dad celebrate his birthday by everyone but him going to Wicked and him staying home to golf and play with Jax.

While we were all singing "Happy Birthday" and trying to get Jax to help blow out the candles Izzy decided to get in a lick of birthday cake.
We drove up to Boise to see the play which is about the Wicked Witch of the West. Lindsey and I painted our fingernails green in honor of the occasion. Brett didn't want his nails painted so he just bought a green cookie.
The crew. We had awesome seats front and center surrounded by a lot of people from my parents' ward.
The next day Jax and I headed home. It is always a beautiful drive through the Tetons. We were almost stampeded by buffalo like that State Farm commercial and of course saw tons of deer and elk and also got to see three moose which was an added bonus. We were really excited to get home to see Luke!

St. George

Vacation time! My family had a family reunion down in St. George to play in the sun. Luke, Jax, and I went down to spend the whole week so we had a few days to play with Luke's Grandma. We went to the temple visitors center and walked around the temple.

Jax's favorite new food is a whole apple and he usually eats all of it. Funny boy.
We went and spent a day hiking in Zions Park. Lots of red rock and sun. Jax kept getting distracted. He could spend all day throwing rocks in the river.
He also enjoyed climbing the rock after he gave it a good taste.

More hiking when the family got there. Jax was napping so Uncle Brett got to babysit while waiting for a phone interview.
Aunt Diana and Uncle Duane took us out on the boat to enjoy the water. Jax wasn't really sure about the life jacket.
First tube ride!
Grandma entertaining Jax while we played tennis.
Cutest little tennis player in the world.
